Carla Spalding is a Jamaican-born American who immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 and has since built a multifaceted career as a veteran, nurse, educator, and political candidate. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1986 to 1991, an experience that instilled in her a profound sense of duty and patriotism. Following her military service, Spalding pursued a career in nursing, earning a master's degree in Nursing with a specialty in education. She has worked as a registered nurse and professor of nursing, including roles as a mental health and pediatric professor. Her dedication to healthcare was recognized when she was honored as Nurse of the Year in 2013 at the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center. Spalding has also been actively involved in community service, serving as a College Advisory Curriculum Board member and Council Secretary for the Salvation Army in South Florida.
